Minimum Qualifications of Education and Experience

Expected starting salary range from $24.40 to $32.59.  Full salary range $24.40 to $40.77.

A combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years of experience in custodial cleaning work and minor maintenance repair as in a similar position as listed in the work functions.

Regular and reliable attendance is a necessary component of job/position. Individuals required to use County vehicles and equipment must have a valid driver's license and be free of any major traffic violations for the last three (3) years.

Required Special Qualifications:
Performs weekend and emergency on-call duties as required for all General Services

Nature of Work

Under general supervision, performs minor building maintenance and office moves. Performs snow removal, carpentry, painting, office furniture moves and installation, vinyl signage design and installation, door and door hardware maintenance, and minor building maintenance and repairs. Supports a diverse, respectful, and inclusive workplace.  

Examples of Work

  • Reviews, completes, and closes work orders and responds to customers.
  • Assembles and/or moves office furniture.
  • Designs, cuts, and installs vinyl signage and decals.
  • Tracks inventory in surplus furniture.
  • Alerts supervisor to problems and potential problems in the workplace regarding critical health and safety issues.
  • Performs grounds keeping duties such as snow removal on various county property. Operates mechanical equipment including push and riding mowers, pickups and larger trucks, loader tractors, skid loaders and pulls trailers.
  • Assists in maintaining, installing, and repairing mechanical locks and locking systems.
  • Creates, distributes, and tracks keys for all county employees and affiliates.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all doors and garage doors and associated door hardware.
  • Combinates cores utilizing the County’s Master Key system.
  • Performs custodial duties as assigned.
  • Performs weekend and emergency on-call duties as required.
  • Performs related work as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic building maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Knowledge of building maintenance including carpentry, tile setting, painting, drywall mud and taping.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the operation and maintenance of mechanical locks and locking systems.
  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements associated with door openings and door hardware.
  • Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Skill in the use of computers and technology.
  • Ability to perform minor maintenance tasks related to carpentry and painting.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and work independently.
  • Ability in communicating with customers, vendors, coworkers, and public.
  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written assignments.
  • Ability to layout working details of projects and to work from plans, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Ability to operate tractor loaders, skid loaders and snow plowing equipment.
  • Ability to work with other staff.
