Rochester International Airport (RST) reports continued air service improvements coming in the near future.  American Airlines currently operates four (4) daily departures to Chicago O’Hare.  Beginning September 5th, the departures to Chicago will increase to five (5) daily.

Delta Air Lines currently operates four (4) daily flights to Minneapolis and Atlanta. Currently 50% of Delta departures are operated on a large regional jet, during a peak travel time the large regional jet flight operations will raise to 75%.  Throughout the peak travel time of July to mid-August, Delta Air Lines will operate three (3) of four (4) daily departures with a CRJ700.  The larger aircraft means more seats available in the market and additional flights with the dual-class cabin, offering first class options.

“In 2014, Rochester travelers filled 84% of the airline seats offered at Rochester International Airport.  This is higher than virtually all upper Midwest peer markets and is a reflection of the strength of the local economy and local airline service” says Jack Penning, Executive Director of Air Service Strategy and Development at Sixel Consulting Group.
Many business and organizations in the region have adopted “Fly Local” policies.  The “Fly Local” policy encourages and supports the use of air service at RST.  Success in air service retention and recruitment will be achieved through focused regional efforts and willingness by area businesses, community leaders, and governmental units to invest in their local air service.  For more information on adopting a “Fly Local” policy, please contact Airport Administration.

“Now is the time for our region to rally and support the Rochester International Airport.  The airport continues working to recruit increased air service options.  Our efforts are only proven successful by the commitment to Fly Local” said John Reed, Executive Director of Rochester International Airport.  “Thank you to the community and the region for your continued support of RST!”
