Somerby Golf Club Appoints Kyle Stumpf as Executive Chef
Former Executive Chef of Pescara

Byron, MN – (July 30, 2015) Somerby Golf Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Kyle Stumpf as Executive Chef. He will oversee its two on-site restaurants, The Chophouse and The Somerby Grille along with their banquet and catering facilities. As an experienced chef, his culinary achievements will bring a new dimension to the Club’s dining options.

Originally from Fargo, ND, Chef Kyle Stumpf brings over 13 years of experience to Somerby. Formally educated at the Colorado Mountain College and trained during a three-year apprenticeship at The Keystone Resort in Keystone, CO, it wasn’t long before Stumpf was named as sous chef of The Bay House in Lincoln City, OR. During his tenure at The Bay House, the restaurant was given the “Best Award of Excellence” by Wine Spectator.

In 2008, Chef Stumpf assumed the responsibilities of a sous chef at The Tu Tu Tun Lodge in Gold Beach, OR where he and the executive chef successfully turned the restaurant into an AAA Four Diamond Restaurant, considered to be one of the best in the world by Travel and Leisure Magazine.

Chef Stumpf also garnered recognition when he accepted the position as executive chef of the renowned St. James Hotel in Red Wing, MN; a defining moment in his career. Having a constant drive to find the best products while maintaining a focus on sustainability and locality, he was able to make an impact on the St. James Hotel’s culinary expression.

Most recently, Chef Stumpf served as executive chef of Pescara in Rochester. Stumpf’s tremendous talent, artful displays and creative cuisine complimented Pescara’s high quality ingredients. In the tradition of great artists, Stumpf can breathe new life into any menu.

The Chophouse at Somerby Golf Course offers upscale dining in a picturesque setting. The menu offers simple, fresh dishes featuring tastes from around the world. The dining room ambiance combines old world charm with contemporary elegance. The Member Grille offers casual dining in a fun, relaxed atmosphere including pool side and outdoor patio service. Somerby’s Crush Club also gives members a unique dining experience from tastings to wine maker dinners.
