Treasure Island Resort & Casino Breaks Ground on $86 million dollar project
Includes hotel towers, restaurant, and larger water park

RED WING, Minn (July 12, 2016) –Treasure Island Resort & Casino broke ground today on an $86 million dollar project with the first phase scheduled to be completed in late 2017, followed by a remodel of the Buffalo Tower in 2018. This project will provide the additional hotel rooms that have been in high demand over the past several years.

The Prairie Island Indian Community announced that this is the second major project of 2016 for Treasure Island Resort & Casino. The Lagoon Water Park and Wave Spa opened in February. This project will include approximately 184,000 square feet for two new hotel towers that will connect to the current Eagle tower. One tower will be eight stories and the other will be seven, for a total of 300 new hotel rooms. There will be 240 standard rooms and approximately 60 suites, which will be on the upper floors and overlook and highlight the scenic beauty and bluffs of Prairie Island. The new hotel towers will feature upscale furnishings and upgraded amenities, including spacious walk-in showers and access to the latest technology.

The current hotel lobby will be totally renovated and have enhanced front desk facilities to improve the overall check-in experience for guests and provide a relaxing lounge area. Other lobby upgrades will include self check-in stations and VIP access with an expanded concierge desk.

A new restaurant and bar will be built above the existing Island Xtreme Bowling Center, which puts it in close proximity to all of the hotel towers. This restaurant will also feature outdoor seating and bring the number of food outlets to 8.

The extremely popular Lagoon Water Park will add 3,200 feet of splashing space. This part of the project includes a larger swimming pool, activity pool, changing rooms and other amenities, which were based on guest feedback over the past few months.

In order to match the new upscale hotel towers in luxury and amenities, the final portion of this comprehensive plan will focus on remodeling the Buffalo Tower in 2018.

This latest investment in Treasure Island Resort & Casino will once again have a significant impact on the region’s economy by creating over 200 new construction jobs, depend upon hundreds of different vendors to supply construction materials, supplies and other essentials to run the resort and casino complex. To support the new amenities, there will be approximately 150 new positions in a variety of exciting areas of the resort. This will bring the number of employees to approximately 1,750.

Treasure Island continues its long working relationship with Knutson Construction, who is once again the design-builder. Coming off the heels of the highly successful Lagoon Water Park and Wave Spa, Tado Steakhouse and the total renovation of Tradewinds Buffet, Knutson will help build the next phase of Treasure Island Resort & Casino’s business. RSP Architects will also continue their partnership with Treasure Island and Knutson Construction, ensuring the look and feel of the new project matches the upscale and contemporary feel of the recent property updates.
