Dr. Penz returns home to open dental practice

Rochester, Minn.– Dr. Matt Penz’s new dental practice is open for business after months of preparation. The grand opening celebration is planned for Wednesday, October 19, which will include a ribbon cutting with the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce at 4:30 p.m. followed by an open house reception until 7:00 p.m.
Dr. Penz previously practiced in Rochester before spending a year in Glencoe, Minn. Leaving Rochester, he found he really missed his hometown and wanted to return to start his own practice.
“This town helped shape me personally and professionally,” said Dr. Penz. “I’m thrilled for the opportunity to open my own practice and serve the dental needs of the people who made me who I am. Also, the dental community in Rochester is focused on continuing education and supporting one another. It’s a unique environment that benefits the providers and the patients.”
Penz Dental Care took over the space previously occupied by Southwest Family Dentistry in Suite 110 of the Uptown Square Building on 2nd Street SW. After months of renovation, Dr. Penz and two staff members welcomed their first patients on September 12, 2016.
Dr. Penz enjoys all aspects of dentistry. As a former athlete at Mayo High School and St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., Dr. Penz has a special interest in sports dentistry. During his previous years of practice in Rochester, Dr. Penz worked with high school and college sports teams to create custom mouth guards for local athletes.
Ultimately, Dr. Penz strives to create a positive experience for dental patients. "Relationships with our patients and our community are the most important aspects of our mission. I feel called to serve and impact lives through dentistry, and will strive to do so every day,” said Dr. Penz.
