Develop relationships within this supportive group of women leaders who meet the third Friday morning of each month. The Women's Round Table provides a small, safe environment for women to: practice and refine skills, discuss challenges specific to women in positions of leadership, learn together and empower each other to take risks. Join us for a fun, engaging program driven by the needs of the group.
June's Speaker: Katie Burbank
Speaker Bio:
I am a lifelong Rochester resident, and second generation immigrant. I have been a nurse for 33 years, 11 in labor and delivery, 2 as Dodge County Maternal Child Health Coordinator, 18 years as a Maternal-Fetal Medicine nurse caring for high risk pregnancies. And most recently, 3 years as the first genetic credentialed nurse at Mayo Clinic in the Center for Individualized Medicine. I retired and started the business Med City Nurse Consultant to help the community and public understand the genomic revolution and how it can benefit them. More specifically, today, I will be talking about
Pharmacogenomics, which is how your genes affect how you metabolized drugs. It has implications for adverse drug reaction prevention, addiction issues, and medication non-compliance concerns.
