In 2023 the Minnesota Legislature passed Paid Family and Medical Leave. The Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) is tasked with establishing this program, and work is well underway for the January 1, 2026 effective date.
Paid Leave Director Greg Norfleet and DEED staff are eager to partner with the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce to engage employers across Minnesota for an in-person info session in September to ensure that they understand the program and their responsibilities. The goal of the info session is to:
Provide employers with program updates, respond to questions, and gather feedback on how to implement a program that operates with minimum friction and maximum impact.
Share information employers need to make sure they are ready for the first program milestone, when wage detail reporting begins this October.
Connect and establish open lines of communications with chambers and employers around the state.
This is a great opportunity for members to gain important information to prepare for the program’s implementation and provide feedback to DEED leadership.
