Every day all of us make countless decisions without even realizing we are doing it. At any given moment, we can be assaulted with 11 million pieces of information. Because our brains can only process about 40 items efficiently, we need to rely on shortcuts and past knowledge or experiences to make safe assumptions. This creates what we call "unconscious bias". This seminar, facilitated by Shelly Maciujec, will cover the following topics:
Definition of Unconscious Bias
Overcoming existing myths about disability in the workplace
Creating an inclusive work environment
The MaxAbility Employment Taskforce is charged with maximizing career success for people with employment barriers and to develop opportunities for businesses to meet their hiring needs. MaxAbility does this through its Southern Minnesota Disability Employment Network. The network connects businesses, service organizations, and individuals with disabilities to improve employment conditions and reduce barriers to employment for those with disabilities.
